How To Install openvswitch-dbg on Kali Linux

In this tutorial we learn how to install openvswitch-dbg on Kali Linux.
What is openvswitch-dbg
openvswitch-dbg is:
Open vSwitch is a production quality, multilayer, software-based, Ethernet virtual switch. It is designed to enable massive network automation through programmatic extension, while still supporting standard management interfaces and protocols (e.g. NetFlow, IPFIX, sFlow, SPAN, RSPAN, CLI, LACP, 802.1ag). In addition, it is designed to support distribution across multiple physical servers similar to VMware’s vNetwork distributed vswitch or Cisco’s Nexus 1000V.
This package contains the debug symbols for all the other openvswitch-* packages. Install it to debug one of them or to examine a core dump produced by one of them.
There are three methods to install openvswitch-dbg on Kali Linux. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install openvswitch-dbg Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get updateAfter updating apt database, We can install openvswitch-dbg using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install openvswitch-dbgInstall openvswitch-dbg Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt updateAfter updating apt database, We can install openvswitch-dbg using apt by running the following command:

If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude on Kali Linux first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Kali Linux. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.

To uninstall only the openvswitch-dbg package we can use the following command:

To uninstall openvswitch-dbg and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Kali Linux, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove openvswitch-dbgRemove openvswitch-dbg Configurations and Data
To remove openvswitch-dbg configuration and data from Kali Linux we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge openvswitch-dbgRemove openvswitch-dbg configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove openvswitch-dbg configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge openvswitch-dbgDependencies
