How To Install openvswitch-dbg on Debian 9

What is openvswitch-dbg
openvswitch-dbg is:
Open vSwitch is a production quality, multilayer, software-based, Ethernet virtual switch. It is designed to enable massive network automation through programmatic extension, while still supporting standard management interfaces and protocols (e.g. NetFlow, IPFIX, sFlow, SPAN, RSPAN, CLI, LACP, 802.1ag). In addition, it is designed to support distribution across multiple physical servers similar to VMware’s vNetwork distributed vswitch or Cisco’s Nexus 1000V.
This package contains the debug symbols for all the other openvswitch-* packages. Install it to debug one of them or to examine a core dump produced by one of them.
There are three methods to install openvswitch-dbg on Debian 9. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install openvswitch-dbg Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install openvswitch-dbg using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install openvswitch-dbg
Install openvswitch-dbg Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install openvswitch-dbg using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install openvswitch-dbg
Install openvswitch-dbg Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Debian. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install openvswitch-dbg using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install openvswitch-dbg
How To Uninstall openvswitch-dbg on Debian 9
To uninstall only the openvswitch-dbg package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove openvswitch-dbg
Uninstall openvswitch-dbg And Its Dependencies
To uninstall openvswitch-dbg and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Debian 9, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove openvswitch-dbg
Remove openvswitch-dbg Configurations and Data
To remove openvswitch-dbg configuration and data from Debian 9 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge openvswitch-dbg
Remove openvswitch-dbg configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove openvswitch-dbg configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge openvswitch-dbg
