What is openvdb-libs

OpenVDB is an Academy Award-winning open-source C++ library comprising a novel hierarchical data structure and a suite of tools for the efficient storage and manipulation of sparse volumetric data discretized on three-dimensional grids. It is developed and maintained by Academy Software Foundation for use in volumetric applications typically encountered in feature film production.

We can use yum or dnf to install openvdb-libs on CentOS 8. In this tutorial we discuss both methods but you only need to choose one of method to install openvdb-libs.

Install openvdb-libs on CentOS 8 Using yum

Update yum database with yum using the following command.

sudo yum makecache

After updating yum database, We can install openvdb-libs using yum by running the following command:

sudo yum -y install openvdb-libs

Install openvdb-libs on CentOS 8 Using dnf

If you don’t have dnf installed you can install DNF on CentOS 7 first. Update yum database with dnf using the following command.

sudo dnf makecache

After updating yum database, We can install openvdb-libs using dnf by running the following command:

sudo dnf -y install openvdb-libs

How To Uninstall openvdb-libs on CentOS 8

To uninstall only the openvdb-libs package we can use the following command:

sudo dnf remove openvdb-libs
