How To Install openvas-nasl on Ubuntu 18.04

The Open Vulnerability Assessment System is a modular security auditing tool, used for testing remote systems for vulnerabilities that should be fixed.
It is made up of two parts: a server, and a client. The server/daemon, openvasd, is in charge of the attacks, whereas the client, OpenVAS-Client, provides an X11/GTK+ user interface.
This package contains the openvas-nasl tool used to execute NASL scripts against hosts.
There are three methods to install openvas-nasl on Ubuntu 18.04. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install openvas-nasl Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install openvas-nasl using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install openvas-nasl
Install openvas-nasl Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install openvas-nasl using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install openvas-nasl
Install openvas-nasl Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install openvas-nasl using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install openvas-nasl
How To Uninstall openvas-nasl on Ubuntu 18.04
To uninstall only the openvas-nasl package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove openvas-nasl
Uninstall openvas-nasl And Its Dependencies
To uninstall openvas-nasl and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu 18.04, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove openvas-nasl
Remove openvas-nasl Configurations and Data
To remove openvas-nasl configuration and data from Ubuntu 18.04 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge openvas-nasl
Remove openvas-nasl configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove openvas-nasl configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge openvas-nasl
