on Rocky Linux 8.
What is openssh-server
OpenSSH is a free version of SSH (Secure SHell), a program for logging into and executing commands on a remote machine. This package contains the secure shell daemon (sshd). The sshd daemon allows SSH clients to securely connect to your SSH server.
We can use yum
or dnf
to install openssh-server
on Rocky Linux 8. In this tutorial we discuss both methods but you only need to choose one of method to install openssh-server.
Install openssh-server on Rocky Linux 8 Using dnf
Update yum database with dnf
using the following command.
sudo dnf makecache --refresh
After updating yum database, We can install openssh-server
using dnf
by running the following command:
sudo dnf -y install openssh-server
Install openssh-server on Rocky Linux 8 Using yum
Update yum database with yum
using the following command.
sudo yum makecache --refresh
After updating yum database, We can install openssh-server
using yum
by running the following command:
sudo yum -y install openssh-server
How To Uninstall openssh-server on Rocky Linux 8
To uninstall only the openssh-server
package we can use the following command:
sudo dnf remove openssh-server
