In this tutorial we learn how to install opencryptoki on CentOS 7.

What is opencryptoki

Opencryptoki implements the PKCS#11 specification v2.11 for a set of cryptographic hardware, such as IBM 4764 and 4765 crypto cards, and the Trusted Platform Module (TPM) chip. Opencryptoki also brings a software token implementation that can be used without any cryptographic hardware. This package contains the Slot Daemon (pkcsslotd) and general utilities. Opencryptoki implements the PKCS#11 specification v2.11 for a set of cryptographic hardware, such as IBM 4764 and 4765 crypto cards, and the Trusted Platform Module (TPM) chip. We can use yum or dnf to install opencryptoki on CentOS 7. In this tutorial we discuss both methods but you only need to choose one of method to install opencryptoki.

Install opencryptoki on CentOS 7 Using yum

Update yum database with yum using the following command.

sudo yum makecache

After updating yum database, We can install opencryptoki using yum by running the following command:

sudo yum -y install opencryptoki

Install opencryptoki on CentOS 7 Using dnf

If you don’t have dnf installed you can install DNF on CentOS 7 first. Update yum database with dnf using the following command.

sudo dnf makecache

After updating yum database, We can install opencryptoki using dnf by running the following command:

sudo dnf -y install opencryptoki

How To Uninstall opencryptoki on CentOS 7

To uninstall only the opencryptoki package we can use the following command:

sudo dnf remove opencryptoki
