on CentOS 7.
What is openbabel
Open Babel is a free, open-source version of the Babel chemistry file translation program. Open Babel is a project designed to pick up where Babel left off, as a cross-platform program and library designed to interconvert between many file formats used in molecular modeling, computational chemistry, and many related areas. This package contains the command-line utility, which is intended to be used as a replacement for the original babel program, to translate between various chemical file formats as well as a wide variety of utilities to foster development of other open source scientific software.
We can use yum
or dnf
to install openbabel
on CentOS 7. In this tutorial we discuss both methods but you only need to choose one of method to install openbabel.
Install openbabel on CentOS 7 Using yum
Update yum database with yum
using the following command.
sudo yum makecache
After updating yum database, We can install openbabel
using yum
by running the following command:
sudo yum -y install openbabel
Install openbabel on CentOS 7 Using dnf
If you don’t have dnf installed you can install DNF on CentOS 7 first.
Update yum database with dnf
using the following command.
sudo dnf makecache
After updating yum database, We can install openbabel
using dnf
by running the following command:
sudo dnf -y install openbabel
How To Uninstall openbabel on CentOS 7
To uninstall only the openbabel
package we can use the following command:
sudo dnf remove openbabel
