How To Install openafs-client on Kali Linux
Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install openafs-client on Kali Linux.
What is openafs-client
openafs-client is:
AFS is a distributed filesystem allowing cross-platform sharing of files among multiple computers. Facilities are provided for access control, authentication, backup and administrative management.
This package provides basic client support to mount and manipulate AFS. If your site uses Kerberos v5 authentication for AFS, you will also want to install openafs-krb5.
There are three methods to install openafs-client on Kali Linux. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install openafs-client Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get updateAfter updating apt database, We can install openafs-client using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install openafs-clientInstall openafs-client Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt updateAfter updating apt database, We can install openafs-client using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install openafs-clientInstall openafs-client Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude on Kali Linux first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Kali Linux. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude updateAfter updating apt database, We can install openafs-client using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install openafs-clientHow To Uninstall openafs-client on Kali Linux
To uninstall only the openafs-client package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove openafs-clientUninstall openafs-client And Its Dependencies
To uninstall openafs-client and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Kali Linux, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove openafs-clientRemove openafs-client Configurations and Data
To remove openafs-client configuration and data from Kali Linux we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge openafs-clientRemove openafs-client configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove openafs-client configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge openafs-clientDependencies
