How To Install open3d-gui on Debian 12

What is open3d-gui
open3d-gui is:
Open3D is an open-source library that supports rapid development of software that deals with 3D data. The Open3D frontend exposes a set of carefully selected data structures and algorithms in both C++ and Python. The backend is highly optimized and is set up for parallelization.
This package provides the stand-alone GUI for data visualization.
There are three methods to install open3d-gui
on Debian 12. We can use apt-get
, apt
and aptitude
. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install open3d-gui Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get
using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install open3d-gui
using apt-get
by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install open3d-gui

Update apt database with apt
using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install open3d-gui
using apt
by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install open3d-gui
Install open3d-gui Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Debian. Update apt database with aptitude
using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install open3d-gui
using aptitude
by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install open3d-gui
How To Uninstall open3d-gui on Debian 12
To uninstall only the open3d-gui
package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove open3d-gui
Uninstall open3d-gui And Its Dependencies
To uninstall open3d-gui
and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Debian 12, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove open3d-gui
Remove open3d-gui Configurations and Data
To remove open3d-gui
configuration and data from Debian 12 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge open3d-gui
Remove open3d-gui configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove open3d-gui
configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge open3d-gui
