What is open-sans-fonts

Open Sans is a humanist sans serif typeface designed by Steve Matteson, Type Director of Ascender Corp. This version contains the complete 897 character set, which includes the standard ISO Latin 1, Latin CE, Greek and Cyrillic character sets. Open Sans was designed with an upright stress, open forms and a neutral, yet friendly appearance. It was optimized for print, web, and mobile interfaces, and has excellent legibility characteristics in its letter forms.

We can use yum or dnf to install open-sans-fonts on CentOS 7. In this tutorial we discuss both methods but you only need to choose one of method to install open-sans-fonts.

Install open-sans-fonts on CentOS 7 Using yum

Update yum database with yum using the following command.

sudo yum makecache

After updating yum database, We can install open-sans-fonts using yum by running the following command:

sudo yum -y install open-sans-fonts

Install open-sans-fonts on CentOS 7 Using dnf

If you don’t have dnf installed you can install DNF on CentOS 7 first. Update yum database with dnf using the following command.

sudo dnf makecache

After updating yum database, We can install open-sans-fonts using dnf by running the following command:

sudo dnf -y install open-sans-fonts

How To Uninstall open-sans-fonts on CentOS 7

To uninstall only the open-sans-fonts package we can use the following command:

sudo dnf remove open-sans-fonts
