How To Install oidentd on Rocky Linux 8
Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install oidentd
on Rocky Linux 8.
What is oidentd
The oidentd package contains identd, which implements the RFC 1413 identification server. Identd looks up specific TCP/IP connections and returns either the user name or other information about the process that owns the connection. Install oidentd if you need to look up information about specific TCP/IP connections.
We can use yum
or dnf
to install oidentd
on Rocky Linux 8. In this tutorial we discuss both methods but you only need to choose one of method to install oidentd.
Install oidentd on Rocky Linux 8 Using dnf
Update yum database with dnf
using the following command.
sudo dnf makecache --refresh
After updating yum database, We can install oidentd
using dnf
by running the following command:
sudo dnf -y install oidentd
Install oidentd on Rocky Linux 8 Using yum
Update yum database with yum
using the following command.
sudo yum makecache --refresh
After updating yum database, We can install oidentd
using yum
by running the following command:
sudo yum -y install oidentd
How To Uninstall oidentd on Rocky Linux 8
To uninstall only the oidentd
package we can use the following command:
sudo dnf remove oidentd
