How To Install oem-config on Ubuntu 22.04

What is oem-config
oem-config is:
The oem-config script re-asks a number of questions that are normally asked during installation, and reconfigures the system accordingly. This allows a vendor to install a skeleton system, clone it onto a large number of machines, and ship it to end users, while still allowing end users to set up their own username and password, language, timezone, and so on.
There are three methods to install oem-config
on Ubuntu 22.04. We can use apt-get
, apt
and aptitude
. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install oem-config Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get
using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install oem-config
using apt-get
by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install oem-config
Install oem-config Using apt
Update apt database with apt
using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install oem-config
using apt
by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install oem-config
Install oem-config Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude
using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install oem-config
using aptitude
by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install oem-config
How To Uninstall oem-config on Ubuntu 22.04
To uninstall only the oem-config
package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove oem-config
Uninstall oem-config And Its Dependencies
To uninstall oem-config
and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu 22.04, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove oem-config
Remove oem-config Configurations and Data
To remove oem-config
configuration and data from Ubuntu 22.04 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge oem-config
Remove oem-config configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove oem-config
configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge oem-config
