How To Install octave-zmat on Kali Linux

In this tutorial we learn how to install octave-zmat on Kali Linux.
What is octave-zmat
octave-zmat is:
ZMat is a portable mex function to enable zlib/gzip/lzma/lzip/lz4/lz4hc based data compression/decompression and base64 encoding/decoding support in MATLAB and GNU Octave. It is fast and compact, can process a large array within a fraction of a second. Among the 6 supported compression methods, lz4 is the fastest for compression/decompression; lzma is the slowest but has the highest compression ratio; zlib/gzip have the best balance between speed and compression time.
There are three methods to install octave-zmat on Kali Linux. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install octave-zmat Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get updateAfter updating apt database, We can install octave-zmat using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install octave-zmatInstall octave-zmat Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt updateAfter updating apt database, We can install octave-zmat using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install octave-zmatInstall octave-zmat Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude on Kali Linux first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Kali Linux. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude updateAfter updating apt database, We can install octave-zmat using aptitude by running the following command:

To uninstall only the octave-zmat package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove octave-zmatUninstall octave-zmat And Its Dependencies
To uninstall octave-zmat and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Kali Linux, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove octave-zmatRemove octave-zmat Configurations and Data
To remove octave-zmat configuration and data from Kali Linux we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge octave-zmatRemove octave-zmat configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
