How To Install octave-symbolic on Debian 9

What is octave-symbolic
octave-symbolic is:
The Octave-Forge Symbolic package adds symbolic calculation features to GNU Octave. These include common Computer Algebra System tools such as algebraic operations, calculus, equation solving, Fourier and Laplace transforms, variable precision arithmetic and other features. Internally, the package uses SymPy, but no knowledge of Python is required. Compatibility with other symbolic toolboxes is intended.
This Octave add-on package is part of the Octave-Forge project.
There are three methods to install octave-symbolic on Debian 9. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install octave-symbolic Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install octave-symbolic using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install octave-symbolic
Install octave-symbolic Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install octave-symbolic using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install octave-symbolic
Install octave-symbolic Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Debian. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install octave-symbolic using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install octave-symbolic
How To Uninstall octave-symbolic on Debian 9
To uninstall only the octave-symbolic package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove octave-symbolic
Uninstall octave-symbolic And Its Dependencies
To uninstall octave-symbolic and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Debian 9, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove octave-symbolic
Remove octave-symbolic Configurations and Data
To remove octave-symbolic configuration and data from Debian 9 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge octave-symbolic
Remove octave-symbolic configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove octave-symbolic configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
