How To Install octave-dicom on Debian 11

In this tutorial we learn how to install octave-dicom
on Debian 11.
What is octave-dicom
octave-dicom is:
Digital communications in medicine (DICOM) is an information standard, originally created for image transfer, which now deals with a large range of medical data.
This package provides functions to read and (eventually) write DICOM files in Octave, a scientific computation software. The functions in the package are intended to have similar usage as the dicom functions in the Matlab Image Processing Toolbox. In Octave they are separate: most image package users will not use dicom, and its dependency might be considered troublesome.
This Octave add-on package is part of the Octave-Forge project.
There are three methods to install octave-dicom
on Debian 11. We can use apt-get

and aptitude
. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install octave-dicom Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get
using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install octave-dicom

Install octave-dicom Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Debian. Update apt database with aptitude
using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install octave-dicom
using aptitude
by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install octave-dicom
How To Uninstall octave-dicom on Debian 11
To uninstall only the octave-dicom
package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove octave-dicom
Uninstall octave-dicom And Its Dependencies
To uninstall octave-dicom
and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Debian 11, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove octave-dicom
Remove octave-dicom Configurations and Data
To remove octave-dicom
configuration and data from Debian 11 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge octave-dicom
Remove octave-dicom configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
