What is ocsinventory-agent

Open Computer and Software Inventory Next Generation is an application designed to help a network or system administrator keep track of computer configuration and software installed on the network. It also allows deploying software, commands or files on Windows and Linux client computers. ocsinventory-agent provides the client for Linux (Unified Unix Agent).

We can use yum or dnf to install ocsinventory-agent on CentOS 7. In this tutorial we discuss both methods but you only need to choose one of method to install ocsinventory-agent.

Install ocsinventory-agent on CentOS 7 Using yum

Update yum database with yum using the following command.

sudo yum makecache

After updating yum database, We can install ocsinventory-agent using yum by running the following command:

sudo yum -y install ocsinventory-agent

Install ocsinventory-agent on CentOS 7 Using dnf

If you don’t have dnf installed you can install DNF on CentOS 7 first. Update yum database with dnf using the following command.

sudo dnf makecache

After updating yum database, We can install ocsinventory-agent using dnf by running the following command:

sudo dnf -y install ocsinventory-agent

How To Uninstall ocsinventory-agent on CentOS 7

To uninstall only the ocsinventory-agent package we can use the following command:

sudo dnf remove ocsinventory-agent
