How To Install oasis on Debian 9
Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install oasis
on Debian 9.
What is oasis
oasis is:
OASIS generates a full configure, build and install system for your application. It starts with a simple
_oasis
file at the toplevel of your project and creates everything required.
It uses external tools like OCamlbuild and it can be considered as the glue between various subsystems that do the job. It should support the following tools:
- OCamlbuild
- OMake (todo)
- OCamlMakefile (todo),
- ocaml-autoconf (todo)
It also features a do-it-yourself command line invocation and an internal configure/install scheme. Libraries are managed through findlib. It has been tested on GNU Linux and Windows.
OASIS supports standard entry points and descriptions. It helps to integrates your libraries and software with third parties tools like GODI.
This package contains command-line tools.
There are three methods to install oasis
on Debian 9. We can use apt-get
, apt
and aptitude
. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install oasis Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get
using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install oasis
using apt-get
by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install oasis

After updating apt database, We can install oasis

Install oasis Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Debian. Update apt database with aptitude
using the following command.

After updating apt database, We can install oasis
using aptitude

sudo aptitude -y install oasis
How To Uninstall oasis on Debian 9
To uninstall only the oasis
package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove oasis
Uninstall oasis And Its Dependencies
To uninstall oasis
and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Debian 9, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove oasis
Remove oasis Configurations and Data
To remove oasis
configuration and data from Debian 9 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge oasis
