How To Install nvidia-settings on Debian 12

The nvidia-settings utility is a tool for configuring the NVIDIA Linux graphics driver. It operates by communicating with the NVIDIA X driver, querying and updating state as appropriate. This communication is done with the NV-CONTROL X extension.
Values such as brightness and gamma, XVideo attributes, temperature, and OpenGL settings can be queried and configured via nvidia-settings.
There are three methods to install nvidia-settings on Debian 12. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install nvidia-settings Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install nvidia-settings using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install nvidia-settings

Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install nvidia-settings using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install nvidia-settings
Install nvidia-settings Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Debian. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install nvidia-settings using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install nvidia-settings
How To Uninstall nvidia-settings on Debian 12
To uninstall only the nvidia-settings package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove nvidia-settings

To uninstall nvidia-settings and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Debian 12, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove nvidia-settings
Remove nvidia-settings Configurations and Data
To remove nvidia-settings configuration and data from Debian 12 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge nvidia-settings
