How To Install nvidia-cudnn on Debian 12

on Debian 12.

The NVIDIA CUDA Deep Neural Network library (cuDNN) is a GPU-accelerated library of primitives for deep neural networks. cuDNN provides highly tuned implementations for standard routines such as forward and backward convolution, pooling, normalization, and activation layers. cuDNN is part of the NVIDIA Deep Learning SDK.
This package only contains the script “/usr/sbin/update-nvidia-cudnn” to download and install Nvidia cuDNN locally. It will be automatically invoked during installation.
There are three methods to install nvidia-cudnn
on Debian 12. We can use apt-get
, apt
and aptitude
. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install nvidia-cudnn Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get
using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install nvidia-cudnn
using apt-get
by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install nvidia-cudnn
Install nvidia-cudnn Using apt
Update apt database with apt
using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install nvidia-cudnn
using apt
by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install nvidia-cudnn
Install nvidia-cudnn Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Debian. Update apt database with aptitude
using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install nvidia-cudnn
using aptitude
by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install nvidia-cudnn
How To Uninstall nvidia-cudnn on Debian 12
To uninstall only the nvidia-cudnn
package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove nvidia-cudnn
Uninstall nvidia-cudnn And Its Dependencies
To uninstall nvidia-cudnn
and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Debian 12, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove nvidia-cudnn
Remove nvidia-cudnn Configurations and Data
To remove nvidia-cudnn
configuration and data from Debian 12 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge nvidia-cudnn
Remove nvidia-cudnn configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove nvidia-cudnn
configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge nvidia-cudnn
