How To Install nvidia-cuda-toolkit on Ubuntu 18.04

The Compute Unified Device Architecture (CUDA) enables NVIDIA graphics processing units (GPUs) to be used for massively parallel general purpose computation.
This package contains the nvcc compiler and other tools needed for building CUDA applications.

Update apt database with apt using the following command.

After updating apt database, We can install nvidia-cuda-toolkit using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install nvidia-cuda-toolkit
Install nvidia-cuda-toolkit Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install nvidia-cuda-toolkit using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install nvidia-cuda-toolkit
How To Uninstall nvidia-cuda-toolkit on Ubuntu 18.04
To uninstall only the nvidia-cuda-toolkit package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove nvidia-cuda-toolkit
Uninstall nvidia-cuda-toolkit And Its Dependencies
To uninstall nvidia-cuda-toolkit and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu 18.04, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove nvidia-cuda-toolkit
Remove nvidia-cuda-toolkit Configurations and Data
To remove nvidia-cuda-toolkit configuration and data from Ubuntu 18.04 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge nvidia-cuda-toolkit
Remove nvidia-cuda-toolkit configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove nvidia-cuda-toolkit configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge nvidia-cuda-toolkit
