What is nut-ipmi

nut-ipmi is:

Network UPS Tools (NUT) is a client/server monitoring system that allows computers to share uninterruptible power supply (UPS) and power distribution unit (PDU) hardware. Clients access the hardware through the server, and are notified whenever the power status changes.

This package currently provides nut-ipmipsu, a driver which allows the user to monitor IPMI power supply units (PSU) found in servers of popular brands, such as Dell, HP, IBM. It adds an IPMI interface to the core NUT system.

There are three methods to install nut-ipmi on Ubuntu 18.04. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.

Install nut-ipmi Using apt-get

Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.

sudo apt-get update

After updating apt database, We can install nut-ipmi using apt-get by running the following command:

sudo apt-get -y install nut-ipmi

Install nut-ipmi Using apt

Update apt database with apt using the following command.

sudo apt update

After updating apt database, We can install nut-ipmi using apt by running the following command:

sudo apt -y install nut-ipmi

Install nut-ipmi Using aptitude

If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.

sudo aptitude update

After updating apt database, We can install nut-ipmi using aptitude by running the following command:

sudo aptitude -y install nut-ipmi

How To Uninstall nut-ipmi on Ubuntu 18.04

To uninstall only the nut-ipmi package we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get remove nut-ipmi

Uninstall nut-ipmi And Its Dependencies

To uninstall nut-ipmi and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu 18.04, we can use the command below:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove nut-ipmi

Remove nut-ipmi Configurations and Data

To remove nut-ipmi configuration and data from Ubuntu 18.04 we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y purge nut-ipmi

Remove nut-ipmi configuration, data, and all of its dependencies

We can use the following command to remove nut-ipmi configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge nut-ipmi
