What is nss

Network Security Services (NSS) is a set of libraries designed to support cross-platform development of security-enabled client and server applications. Applications built with NSS can support SSL v2 and v3, TLS, PKCS #5, PKCS #7, PKCS #11, PKCS #12, S/MIME, X.509 v3 certificates, and other security standards.

We can use yum or dnf to install nss on AlmaLinux 8. In this tutorial we discuss both methods but you only need to choose one of method to install nss.

Install nss on AlmaLinux 8 Using dnf

Update yum database with dnf using the following command.

sudo dnf makecache --refresh

After updating yum database, We can install nss using dnf by running the following command:

sudo dnf -y install nss

Install nss on AlmaLinux 8 Using yum

Update yum database with yum using the following command.

sudo yum makecache --refresh

After updating yum database, We can install nss using yum by running the following command:

sudo yum -y install nss

How To Uninstall nss on AlmaLinux 8

To uninstall only the nss package we can use the following command:

sudo dnf remove nss
