How To Install nova-compute-lxc on Ubuntu 18.04

What is nova-compute-lxc
nova-compute-lxc is:
OpenStack is a reliable cloud infrastructure. Its mission is to produce the ubiquitous cloud computing platform that will meet the needs of public and private cloud providers regardless of size, by being simple to implement and massively scalable.
OpenStack Compute, codenamed Nova, is a cloud computing fabric controller. In addition to its “native” API (the OpenStack API), it also supports the Amazon EC2 API.
Nova is intended to be modular and easy to extend and adapt. It supports many different hypervisors (KVM and Xen to name a few), different database backends (SQLite, MySQL, and PostgreSQL, for instance), different types of user databases (LDAP or SQL), etc.
Install this package on your compute nodes if you’re using LXC.
There are three methods to install nova-compute-lxc on Ubuntu 18.04. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install nova-compute-lxc Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install nova-compute-lxc using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install nova-compute-lxc
Install nova-compute-lxc Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install nova-compute-lxc using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install nova-compute-lxc
Install nova-compute-lxc Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install nova-compute-lxc using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install nova-compute-lxc
How To Uninstall nova-compute-lxc on Ubuntu 18.04
To uninstall only the nova-compute-lxc package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove nova-compute-lxc
Uninstall nova-compute-lxc And Its Dependencies
To uninstall nova-compute-lxc and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu 18.04, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove nova-compute-lxc
Remove nova-compute-lxc Configurations and Data
To remove nova-compute-lxc configuration and data from Ubuntu 18.04 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge nova-compute-lxc
Remove nova-compute-lxc configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove nova-compute-lxc configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge nova-compute-lxc
