OpenStack Compute, codenamed Nova, is a cloud computing fabric controller designed to be modular and easy to extend and adapt. In addition to its “native” OpenStack API, it also supports the Amazon EC2 API, and it supports many different database backends (including SQLite, MySQL, and PostgreSQL), hypervisors (KVM, Xen), and user directory systems (LDAP, SQL).
This is a dependency package for compute nodes using LXC.
There are three methods to install nova-compute-lxc on Debian 12. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install nova-compute-lxc Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install nova-compute-lxc using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install nova-compute-lxc
Install nova-compute-lxc Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install nova-compute-lxc using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install nova-compute-lxc
Install nova-compute-lxc Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Debian. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install nova-compute-lxc using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install nova-compute-lxc
How To Uninstall nova-compute-lxc on Debian 12
To uninstall only the nova-compute-lxc package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove nova-compute-lxc

To uninstall nova-compute-lxc and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Debian 12, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove nova-compute-lxc

To remove nova-compute-lxc configuration and data from Debian 12 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge nova-compute-lxc
