How To Install nodejs on Kali Linux

In this tutorial we learn how to install nodejs
on Kali Linux.
What is nodejs
nodejs is:
Node.js is a platform built on Chrome’s JavaScript runtime for easily building fast, scalable network applications. Node.js uses an event-driven, non-blocking I/O model that makes it lightweight and efficient, perfect for data-intensive real-time applications that run across distributed devices.
Node.js is bundled with several useful libraries to handle server tasks:
System, Events, Standard I/O, Modules, Timers, Child Processes, POSIX, HTTP, Multipart Parsing, TCP, DNS, Assert, Path, URL, Query Strings.
There are three methods to install nodejs
on Kali Linux. We can use apt-get
, apt
and aptitude
. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install nodejs Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get
using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install nodejs
using apt-get
by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install nodejs
Install nodejs Using apt
Update apt database with apt
using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install nodejs
using apt
by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install nodejs
Install nodejs Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude on Kali Linux first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Kali Linux. Update apt database with aptitude
using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install nodejs
using aptitude
by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install nodejs
How To Uninstall nodejs on Kali Linux
To uninstall only the nodejs
package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove nodejs
Uninstall nodejs And Its Dependencies
To uninstall nodejs
and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Kali Linux, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove nodejs
Remove nodejs Configurations and Data
To remove nodejs
configuration and data from Kali Linux we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge nodejs
Remove nodejs configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove nodejs
configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge nodejs
