How To Install node-passport on Kali Linux
Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install node-passport on Kali Linux.
What is node-passport
node-passport is:
Passport is an authentication middleware for Node.js. Extremely flexible and modular, Passport can be unobtrusively dropped in to any Connect/Express-based web application.
It provides a comprehensive set of authentication systems: using a username and password, social networks credentials, OpenID, and more.
This package only provides the general framework and the “session” authorization strategy: other systems are packaged separately, please install the ones you need.
Node.js is an event-based server-side javascript engine.
There are three methods to install node-passport on Kali Linux. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install node-passport Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get updateAfter updating apt database, We can install node-passport using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install node-passportInstall node-passport Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt updateAfter updating apt database, We can install node-passport using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install node-passportInstall node-passport Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude on Kali Linux first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Kali Linux. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude updateAfter updating apt database, We can install node-passport using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install node-passportHow To Uninstall node-passport on Kali Linux
To uninstall only the node-passport package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove node-passportUninstall node-passport And Its Dependencies
To uninstall node-passport and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Kali Linux, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove node-passportRemove node-passport Configurations and Data
To remove node-passport configuration and data from Kali Linux we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge node-passportRemove node-passport configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove node-passport configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge node-passportDependencies
