How To Install node-lolex on Ubuntu 18.04
Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install node-lolex
on Ubuntu 18.04.
What is node-lolex
node-lolex is:
JavaScript implementation of the timer APIs; setTimeout, clearTimeout, setImmediate, clearImmediate, setInterval and clearInterval, along with a clock instance that controls the flow of time. Lolex also provides a Date implementation that gets its time from the clock.
Lolex can be used to simulate passing time in automated tests and other situations where you want the scheduling semantics, but don’t want to actually wait. Lolex is extracted from Sinon.JS.
There are three methods to install node-lolex
on Ubuntu 18.04. We can use apt-get
, apt
and aptitude
. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install node-lolex Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get
using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install node-lolex
using apt-get
by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install node-lolex
Install node-lolex Using apt
Update apt database with apt
using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install node-lolex
using apt
by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install node-lolex
Install node-lolex Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude
using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install node-lolex
using aptitude
by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install node-lolex
How To Uninstall node-lolex on Ubuntu 18.04
To uninstall only the node-lolex
package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove node-lolex
Uninstall node-lolex And Its Dependencies
To uninstall node-lolex
and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu 18.04, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove node-lolex
Remove node-lolex Configurations and Data
To remove node-lolex
configuration and data from Ubuntu 18.04 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge node-lolex
Remove node-lolex configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove node-lolex
configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge node-lolex
