How To Install nginx-full on Ubuntu 18.04

on Ubuntu 18.04.
What is nginx-full
nginx-full is:
Nginx (“engine X”) is a high-performance web and reverse proxy server created by Igor Sysoev. It can be used both as a standalone web server and as a proxy to reduce the load on back-end HTTP or mail servers.
This package provides a version of nginx with the complete set of standard modules included (but omitting some of those included in nginx-extra).
STANDARD HTTP MODULES: Core, Access, Auth Basic, Auto Index, Browser, Empty GIF, FastCGI, Geo, Limit Connections, Limit Requests, Map, Memcached, Proxy, Referer, Rewrite, SCGI, Split Clients, UWSGI.
OPTIONAL HTTP MODULES: Addition, Auth Request, Charset, WebDAV, GeoIP, Gunzip, Gzip, Gzip Precompression, Headers, HTTP/2, Image Filter, Index, Log, Real IP, Slice, SSI, SSL, Stream, SSL Preread, Stub Status, Substitution, Thread Pool, Upstream, User ID, XSLT.
MAIL MODULES: Mail Core, Auth HTTP, Proxy, SSL, IMAP, POP3, SMTP.
THIRD PARTY MODULES: Auth PAM, DAV Ext, Echo, HTTP Substitutions, Upstream Fair Queue.
There are three methods to install nginx-full
on Ubuntu 18.04. We can use apt-get
, apt
and aptitude
. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install nginx-full Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get
using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install nginx-full
using apt-get
by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install nginx-full
Install nginx-full Using apt
Update apt database with apt
using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install nginx-full
using apt
by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install nginx-full
Install nginx-full Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude
using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install nginx-full
using aptitude
by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install nginx-full
How To Uninstall nginx-full on Ubuntu 18.04
To uninstall only the nginx-full
package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove nginx-full
Uninstall nginx-full And Its Dependencies
To uninstall nginx-full
and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu 18.04, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove nginx-full
Remove nginx-full Configurations and Data
To remove nginx-full
configuration and data from Ubuntu 18.04 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge nginx-full
Remove nginx-full configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove nginx-full
configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge nginx-full
