What is nextpnr-ice40-qt
nextpnr-ice40-qt is:
nextpnr is a FPGA place and route tool. Its purpose is to turn a topological description of digital hardware produced by an FPGA logic synthesis tool such as yosys into an elaborate map of connections between the hardwired functional units available inside the FPGA’s fabric.
In order to verify the fully implemented design for proper operation at speed timing-analysis of the design is also supported.
nextpnr-ice40 supports the Lattice iCE40 series of FPGAs and uses the hardware description chipdb from the fpga-icestorm package.
This package supports both the GUI and command-line interfaces. A slimmer command-line only version is available in the nextpnr-ice40 package.
There are three methods to install nextpnr-ice40-qt on Debian 12. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install nextpnr-ice40-qt Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install nextpnr-ice40-qt using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install nextpnr-ice40-qt
Install nextpnr-ice40-qt Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install nextpnr-ice40-qt using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install nextpnr-ice40-qt
Install nextpnr-ice40-qt Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Debian. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install nextpnr-ice40-qt using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install nextpnr-ice40-qt
