How To Install newt on CentOS 7

What is newt
Newt is a programming library for color text mode, widget based user interfaces. Newt can be used to add stacked windows, entry widgets, checkboxes, radio buttons, labels, plain text fields, scrollbars, etc., to text mode user interfaces. This package also contains the shared library needed by programs built with newt, as well as a /usr/bin/dialog replacement called whiptail. Newt is based on the slang library. We can use yum or dnf to install newt on CentOS 7. In this tutorial we discuss both methods but you only need to choose one of method to install newt.
Install newt on CentOS 7 Using yum
Update yum database with yum using the following command.
sudo yum makecache
After updating yum database, We can install newt using yum by running the following command:
sudo yum -y install newt
Install newt on CentOS 7 Using dnf
If you don’t have dnf installed you can install DNF on CentOS 7 first.
Update yum database with dnf using the following command.
sudo dnf makecache
After updating yum database, We can install newt using dnf by running the following command:
sudo dnf -y install newt
How To Uninstall newt on CentOS 7
To uninstall only the newt package we can use the following command:
sudo dnf remove newt
