How To Install network-manager-strongswan on Ubuntu 18.04

on Ubuntu 18.04.
What is network-manager-strongswan
network-manager-strongswan is:
NetworkManager attempts to keep an active network connection available at all times. It is intended primarily for laptops where it allows easy switching between local wireless networks, it’s also useful on desktops with a selection of different interfaces to use. It is not intended for usage on servers.
This package provides a VPN plugin for strongSwan, providing easy access to IKEv2 IPSec VPN’s.
There are three methods to install network-manager-strongswan
on Ubuntu 18.04. We can use apt-get
, apt
and aptitude
. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install network-manager-strongswan Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get
using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install network-manager-strongswan
using apt-get
by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install network-manager-strongswan
Install network-manager-strongswan Using apt
Update apt database with apt
using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install network-manager-strongswan
using apt
by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install network-manager-strongswan
Install network-manager-strongswan Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude
using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install network-manager-strongswan
using aptitude
by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install network-manager-strongswan
How To Uninstall network-manager-strongswan on Ubuntu 18.04
To uninstall only the network-manager-strongswan
package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove network-manager-strongswan
Uninstall network-manager-strongswan And Its Dependencies
To uninstall network-manager-strongswan
and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu 18.04, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove network-manager-strongswan
Remove network-manager-strongswan Configurations and Data
To remove network-manager-strongswan
configuration and data from Ubuntu 18.04 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge network-manager-strongswan
Remove network-manager-strongswan configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove network-manager-strongswan
configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge network-manager-strongswan
