How To Install nettle-dev on Ubuntu 18.04

What is nettle-dev
nettle-dev is:
Nettle is a cryptographic library that is designed to fit easily in more or less any context: In crypto toolkits for object-oriented languages (C++, Python, Pike, …), in applications like LSH or GNUPG, or even in kernel space.
It tries to solve a problem of providing a common set of cryptographic algorithms for higher-level applications by implementing a context-independent set of cryptographic algorithms. In that light, Nettle doesn’t do any memory allocation or I/O, it simply provides the cryptographic algorithms for the application to use in any environment and in any way it needs.
This package contains the development files (C headers and static libraries)
There are three methods to install nettle-dev on Ubuntu 18.04. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install nettle-dev Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install nettle-dev using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install nettle-dev
Install nettle-dev Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install nettle-dev using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install nettle-dev
Install nettle-dev Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install nettle-dev using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install nettle-dev
How To Uninstall nettle-dev on Ubuntu 18.04
To uninstall only the nettle-dev package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove nettle-dev
Uninstall nettle-dev And Its Dependencies
To uninstall nettle-dev and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu 18.04, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove nettle-dev
Remove nettle-dev Configurations and Data
To remove nettle-dev configuration and data from Ubuntu 18.04 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge nettle-dev
Remove nettle-dev configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove nettle-dev configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge nettle-dev
