What is netstress

netstress is:

Client/server utility designed to stress & benchmark network activity of a given ethernet device or path using simulated (random) real world data and packet sizes instead of fixed data and packet sizes.

Easily command line usage with random packets sizes and random data for read, write, or read & write (default) testing and reporting benchmark results from the ethernet device.

There are three methods to install netstress on Debian 9. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.

Install netstress Using apt-get

Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.

sudo apt-get update

After updating apt database, We can install netstress using apt-get by running the following command:

sudo apt-get -y install netstress

Install netstress Using apt

Update apt database with apt using the following command.

sudo apt update

After updating apt database, We can install netstress using apt by running the following command:
