How To Install netpipe-tcp on Ubuntu 18.04

What is netpipe-tcp
netpipe-tcp is:
NetPIPE is a protocol independent performance tool that encapsulates the best of ttcp and netperf and visually represents the network performance under a variety of conditions. By taking the end-to-end application view of a network, NetPIPE clearly shows the overhead associated with different protocol layers. NetPIPE answers such questions as: how soon will a given data block of size k arrive at its destination? Which network and protocol will transmit size k blocks the fastest? What is a given network’s effective maximum throughput and saturation level? Does there exist a block size k for which the throughput is maximized? How much communication overhead is due to the network communication protocol layer(s)? How quickly will a small (< 1 kbyte) control message arrive, and which network and protocol are best for this purpose?
This package uses a raw TCP protocol to measure network performance.
There are three methods to install netpipe-tcp on Ubuntu 18.04. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install netpipe-tcp Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install netpipe-tcp using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install netpipe-tcp
Install netpipe-tcp Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install netpipe-tcp using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install netpipe-tcp
Install netpipe-tcp Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install netpipe-tcp using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install netpipe-tcp
How To Uninstall netpipe-tcp on Ubuntu 18.04
To uninstall only the netpipe-tcp package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove netpipe-tcp
Uninstall netpipe-tcp And Its Dependencies
To uninstall netpipe-tcp and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu 18.04, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove netpipe-tcp
Remove netpipe-tcp Configurations and Data
To remove netpipe-tcp configuration and data from Ubuntu 18.04 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge netpipe-tcp
Remove netpipe-tcp configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove netpipe-tcp configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge netpipe-tcp
