How To Install netpbm-progs on CentOS 7

In this tutorial we learn how to install netpbm-progs
on CentOS 7.
What is netpbm-progs
The netpbm-progs package contains a group of scripts for manipulating the graphics files in formats which are supported by the netpbm libraries. For example, netpbm-progs includes the rasttopnm script, which will convert a Sun rasterfile into a portable anymap. Netpbm-progs contains many other scripts for converting from one graphics file format to another. If you need to use these conversion scripts, you should install netpbm-progs. You’ll also need to install the netpbm package.
We can use yum
or dnf
to install netpbm-progs
on CentOS 7. In this tutorial we discuss both methods but you only need to choose one of method to install netpbm-progs.
Install netpbm-progs on CentOS 7 Using yum
Update yum database with yum
using the following command.
sudo yum makecache
After updating yum database, We can install netpbm-progs
using yum
by running the following command:
sudo yum -y install netpbm-progs
Install netpbm-progs on CentOS 7 Using dnf
If you don’t have dnf installed you can install DNF on CentOS 7 first.
Update yum database with dnf
using the following command.
sudo dnf makecache
After updating yum database, We can install netpbm-progs
using dnf
by running the following command:
sudo dnf -y install netpbm-progs
How To Uninstall netpbm-progs on CentOS 7
To uninstall only the netpbm-progs
package we can use the following command:
sudo dnf remove netpbm-progs
