How To Install neomutt on Kali Linux
Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install neomutt on Kali Linux.
What is neomutt
neomutt is:
Neomutt supports all the features that are supported by Mutt, including POP and IMAP support, SSL encryption and SASL authentication, threading and GPG support. On the top of that, neomutt provides:
- Notmuch: a mail indexing tools that provides advanced features such as full-text search, thread reconstruction and added features.
- Color attachment headers using regex, just like mail bodies.
- Custom rules for theming the mail index.
- NNTP support.
- Visual progress bar for slow operations.
- Trash folder.
There are three methods to install neomutt on Kali Linux. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install neomutt Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get updateAfter updating apt database, We can install neomutt using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install neomuttInstall neomutt Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt updateAfter updating apt database, We can install neomutt using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install neomuttInstall neomutt Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude on Kali Linux first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Kali Linux. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude updateAfter updating apt database, We can install neomutt using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install neomuttHow To Uninstall neomutt on Kali Linux
To uninstall only the neomutt package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove neomuttUninstall neomutt And Its Dependencies
To uninstall neomutt and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Kali Linux, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove neomuttRemove neomutt Configurations and Data
To remove neomutt configuration and data from Kali Linux we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge neomuttRemove neomutt configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove neomutt configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
