How To Install ndisc6 on Kali Linux
Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install ndisc6 on Kali Linux.
What is ndisc6
ndisc6 is:
ndisc6 gathers a few diagnostic tools for IPv6 networks including:
- ndisc6, which performs ICMPv6 Neighbor Discovery in userland,
- rdisc6, which performs ICMPv6 Router Discovery in userland,
- rltraceroute6, a UDP/ICMP IPv6 implementation of traceroute,
- tcptraceroute6, a TCP/IPv6-based traceroute implementation,
- tcpspray6, a TCP/IP Discard/Echo bandwidth meter,
- addrinfo, easy script interface for hostname and address resolution,
- dnssort, DNS sorting script.
There are three methods to install ndisc6 on Kali Linux. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install ndisc6 Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get updateAfter updating apt database, We can install ndisc6 using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install ndisc6Install ndisc6 Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt updateAfter updating apt database, We can install ndisc6 using apt by running the following command:

If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude on Kali Linux first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Kali Linux. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude updateAfter updating apt database, We can install ndisc6 using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install ndisc6How To Uninstall ndisc6 on Kali Linux
To uninstall only the ndisc6 package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove ndisc6Uninstall ndisc6 And Its Dependencies
To uninstall ndisc6 and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Kali Linux, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove ndisc6Remove ndisc6 Configurations and Data
To remove ndisc6 configuration and data from Kali Linux we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge ndisc6Remove ndisc6 configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
