In this tutorial we learn how to install nautilus on AlmaLinux 8.

What is nautilus

Nautilus is the file manager and graphical shell for the GNOME desktop that makes it easy to manage your files and the rest of your system. It allows to browse directories on local and remote filesystems, preview files and launch applications associated with them. It is also responsible for handling the icons on the GNOME desktop.

We can use yum or dnf to install nautilus on AlmaLinux 8. In this tutorial we discuss both methods but you only need to choose one of method to install nautilus.

Install nautilus on AlmaLinux 8 Using dnf

Update yum database with dnf using the following command.

sudo dnf makecache --refresh

After updating yum database, We can install nautilus using dnf by running the following command:

sudo dnf -y install nautilus

Install nautilus on AlmaLinux 8 Using yum

Update yum database with yum using the following command.

sudo yum makecache --refresh

After updating yum database, We can install nautilus using yum by running the following command:

sudo yum -y install nautilus

How To Uninstall nautilus on AlmaLinux 8

To uninstall only the nautilus package we can use the following command:

sudo dnf remove nautilus
