How To Install nanoc on Kali Linux
Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install nanoc on Kali Linux.
What is nanoc
nanoc is:
Nanoc is a static site generator, fit for building anything from a small personal blog to a large corporate web site. It can transform content from one format (e.g. Haml or Markdown) into another (usually HTML) and lay out pages so that the site’s look and feel is consistent across all pages.
Extending Nanoc is easy because of its modular architecture. It comes with only a couple of extensions, but allows new functionality to be plugged in quickly and easily.
Some knowledge of the Ruby programming language is required in order to use Nanoc.
There are three methods to install nanoc on Kali Linux. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install nanoc Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get updateAfter updating apt database, We can install nanoc using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install nanocInstall nanoc Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt updateAfter updating apt database, We can install nanoc using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install nanocInstall nanoc Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude on Kali Linux first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Kali Linux. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude updateAfter updating apt database, We can install nanoc using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install nanocHow To Uninstall nanoc on Kali Linux
To uninstall only the nanoc package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove nanocUninstall nanoc And Its Dependencies
To uninstall nanoc and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Kali Linux, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove nanocRemove nanoc Configurations and Data
To remove nanoc configuration and data from Kali Linux we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge nanocRemove nanoc configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove nanoc configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge nanocDependencies
