How To Install nam-dbg on Debian 12
Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install nam-dbg on Debian 12.
What is nam-dbg
nam-dbg is:
NAM is a Tcl/TK based animation tool for viewing network simulation traces and real world packet traces. It supports topology layout, packet level animation, and various data inspection tools. NAM began at LBL. It has evolved substantially over the past few years. The NAM development effort was an ongoing collaboration with the VINT project. Currently, it is being developed at ISI as part of the SAMAN and Conser projects.
This package contains debug symboles of NAM.
There are three methods to install nam-dbg on Debian 12. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install nam-dbg Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install nam-dbg using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install nam-dbg
Install nam-dbg Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install nam-dbg using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install nam-dbg
Install nam-dbg Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Debian. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install nam-dbg using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install nam-dbg
How To Uninstall nam-dbg on Debian 12
To uninstall only the nam-dbg package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove nam-dbg
Uninstall nam-dbg And Its Dependencies
To uninstall nam-dbg and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Debian 12, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove nam-dbg
Remove nam-dbg Configurations and Data
To remove nam-dbg configuration and data from Debian 12 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge nam-dbg
Remove nam-dbg configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove nam-dbg configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge nam-dbg
