How To Install nagios-snmp-plugins on Kali Linux
Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install nagios-snmp-plugins on Kali Linux.
What is nagios-snmp-plugins
nagios-snmp-plugins is:
A set of Nagios plugins to check hosts/devices using snmp protocol
The general idea of these scripts is to check as many things as possible with snmp (how do you install NRPE on Cisco or AS/400 ?) : disks, memory, load, interface, running procsses, etc…
The other idea is to select disks, interfaces, process using regular expressions
There are three methods to install nagios-snmp-plugins on Kali Linux. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install nagios-snmp-plugins Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get updateAfter updating apt database, We can install nagios-snmp-plugins using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install nagios-snmp-pluginsInstall nagios-snmp-plugins Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt updateAfter updating apt database, We can install nagios-snmp-plugins using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install nagios-snmp-pluginsInstall nagios-snmp-plugins Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude on Kali Linux first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Kali Linux. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude updateAfter updating apt database, We can install nagios-snmp-plugins using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install nagios-snmp-pluginsHow To Uninstall nagios-snmp-plugins on Kali Linux
To uninstall only the nagios-snmp-plugins package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove nagios-snmp-pluginsUninstall nagios-snmp-plugins And Its Dependencies
To uninstall nagios-snmp-plugins and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Kali Linux, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove nagios-snmp-pluginsRemove nagios-snmp-plugins Configurations and Data
To remove nagios-snmp-plugins configuration and data from Kali Linux we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge nagios-snmp-pluginsRemove nagios-snmp-plugins configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove nagios-snmp-plugins configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge nagios-snmp-pluginsDependencies
