How To Install nagios-plugins on AlmaLinux 8

What is nagios-plugins
Nagios is a program that will monitor hosts and services on your network, and to email or page you when a problem arises or is resolved. Nagios runs on a Unix server as a background or daemon process, intermittently running checks on various services that you specify. The actual service checks are performed by separate “plugin” programs which return the status of the checks to Nagios. This package contains those plugins.
We can use yum
or dnf
to install nagios-plugins
on AlmaLinux 8. In this tutorial we discuss both methods but you only need to choose one of method to install nagios-plugins.
Install nagios-plugins on AlmaLinux 8 Using dnf
Update yum database with dnf
using the following command.
sudo dnf makecache --refresh
After updating yum database, We can install nagios-plugins
using dnf
by running the following command:
sudo dnf -y install nagios-plugins
Install nagios-plugins on AlmaLinux 8 Using yum
Update yum database with yum
using the following command.
sudo yum makecache --refresh
After updating yum database, We can install nagios-plugins
using yum
by running the following command:
sudo yum -y install nagios-plugins
How To Uninstall nagios-plugins on AlmaLinux 8
To uninstall only the nagios-plugins
package we can use the following command:
sudo dnf remove nagios-plugins
