How To Install nagios-check-xmppng on Kali Linux
Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install nagios-check-xmppng on Kali Linux.
What is nagios-check-xmppng
nagios-check-xmppng is:
a nagios compatible check plugin for XMPP servers implementing the XMPP protocol as specified in RFC 6120.
The plugin provides the following features:
- check client to server (C2S) as well as server to server (S2S) ports
- check XMPP servers on IPv6 and IPv4 addresses
- support STARTTLS as specified in RFC 6120 section 5.
- check the validity of the server certificate presented by the XMPP server
The plugin has been implemented because of insufficiencies in the existing check_ssl_cert and check_xmpp plugins.
There are three methods to install nagios-check-xmppng on Kali Linux. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install nagios-check-xmppng Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get updateAfter updating apt database, We can install nagios-check-xmppng using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install nagios-check-xmppngInstall nagios-check-xmppng Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt updateAfter updating apt database, We can install nagios-check-xmppng using apt by running the following command:

If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude on Kali Linux first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Kali Linux. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.

To uninstall only the nagios-check-xmppng package we can use the following command:

To uninstall nagios-check-xmppng and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Kali Linux, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove nagios-check-xmppngRemove nagios-check-xmppng Configurations and Data
To remove nagios-check-xmppng configuration and data from Kali Linux we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge nagios-check-xmppngRemove nagios-check-xmppng configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove nagios-check-xmppng configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge nagios-check-xmppngDependencies
