How To Install munin-common on Kali Linux
Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install munin-common
on Kali Linux.
What is munin-common
munin-common is:
Munin is a highly flexible and powerful solution used to create graphs of virtually everything imaginable throughout your network, while still maintaining a rattling ease of installation and configuration.
This package contains the common perl modules that are used by both munin and munin-node.
Munin is written in Perl, and relies heavily on Tobi Oetiker’s excellent RRDtool. To see a real example of Munin in action, you can follow a link from http://munin-monitoring.org/ to a live installation.
There are three methods to install munin-common
on Kali Linux. We can use apt-get
, apt
and aptitude
. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install munin-common Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get
using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install munin-common
using apt-get
by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install munin-common
Install munin-common Using apt
Update apt database with apt
using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install munin-common
using apt
by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install munin-common
Install munin-common Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude on Kali Linux first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Kali Linux. Update apt database with aptitude
using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install munin-common
using aptitude
by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install munin-common
How To Uninstall munin-common on Kali Linux
To uninstall only the munin-common
package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove munin-common
Uninstall munin-common And Its Dependencies
To uninstall munin-common
and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Kali Linux, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove munin-common
Remove munin-common Configurations and Data
To remove munin-common
configuration and data from Kali Linux we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge munin-common
Remove munin-common configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove munin-common
configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge munin-common
