What is munin-async

munin-async is:

Munin is a highly flexible and powerful solution used to create graphs of virtually everything imaginable throughout your network, while still maintaining a rattling ease of installation and configuration.

This package contains munin-async and munin-asyncd which can be used for (optional) asynchronous operation of munin-update.

Munin is written in Perl, and relies heavily on Tobi Oetiker’s excellent RRDtool. To see a real example of Munin in action, you can follow a link from http://munin-monitoring.org/ to a live installation.

There are three methods to install munin-async on Ubuntu 18.04. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.

Install munin-async Using apt-get

Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.

sudo apt-get update

After updating apt database, We can install munin-async using apt-get by running the following command:

sudo apt-get -y install munin-async

Install munin-async Using apt

Update apt database with apt using the following command.

sudo apt update

After updating apt database, We can install munin-async using apt by running the following command:

sudo apt -y install munin-async

Install munin-async Using aptitude

If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.

sudo aptitude update

After updating apt database, We can install munin-async using aptitude by running the following command:

sudo aptitude -y install munin-async

How To Uninstall munin-async on Ubuntu 18.04

To uninstall only the munin-async package we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get remove munin-async

Uninstall munin-async And Its Dependencies

To uninstall munin-async and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu 18.04, we can use the command below:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove munin-async

Remove munin-async Configurations and Data

To remove munin-async configuration and data from Ubuntu 18.04 we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y purge munin-async

Remove munin-async configuration, data, and all of its dependencies

We can use the following command to remove munin-async configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:

sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge munin-async
