How To Install mumble on Ubuntu 18.04

on Ubuntu 18.04.
What is mumble
mumble is:
Mumble is a low-latency, high quality voice chat program for gaming. It features noise suppression, encrypted connections for both voice and instant messaging, automatic gain control and low latency audio with support for multiple audio standards. Mumble includes an in-game overlay compatible with most open-source and commercial 3D applications. Mumble is just a client and uses a non-standard protocol. You will need a dedicated server to talk to other users. Server functionality is provided by the package “mumble-server”.
There are three methods to install mumble
on Ubuntu 18.04. We can use apt-get
, apt
and aptitude
. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install mumble Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get
using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install mumble
using apt-get
by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install mumble
Install mumble Using apt
Update apt database with apt
using the following command.
sudo apt update
After updating apt database, We can install mumble
using apt
by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install mumble
Install mumble Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Ubuntu. Update apt database with aptitude
using the following command.
sudo aptitude update
After updating apt database, We can install mumble
using aptitude
by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install mumble
How To Uninstall mumble on Ubuntu 18.04
To uninstall only the mumble
package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove mumble
Uninstall mumble And Its Dependencies
To uninstall mumble
and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Ubuntu 18.04, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove mumble
Remove mumble Configurations and Data
To remove mumble
configuration and data from Ubuntu 18.04 we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge mumble
Remove mumble configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove mumble
configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge mumble
