How To Install mumble-server on Kali Linux
Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install mumble-server on Kali Linux.
What is mumble-server
mumble-server is:
Murmur is the VoIP server component for Mumble. Murmur is installed in a system-wide fashion, but can also be run by individual users. Each murmur process supports multiple virtual servers, each with their own user base and channel list.
There are three methods to install mumble-server on Kali Linux. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install mumble-server Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get updateAfter updating apt database, We can install mumble-server using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install mumble-serverInstall mumble-server Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt updateAfter updating apt database, We can install mumble-server using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install mumble-serverInstall mumble-server Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude on Kali Linux first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Kali Linux. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude updateAfter updating apt database, We can install mumble-server using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install mumble-serverHow To Uninstall mumble-server on Kali Linux
To uninstall only the mumble-server package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove mumble-serverUninstall mumble-server And Its Dependencies
To uninstall mumble-server and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Kali Linux, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove mumble-serverRemove mumble-server Configurations and Data
To remove mumble-server configuration and data from Kali Linux we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge mumble-serverRemove mumble-server configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove mumble-server configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge mumble-serverDependencies
