How To Install multicat on Kali Linux
Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install multicat on Kali Linux.
What is multicat
multicat is:
The multicat package contains a set of tools designed to easily and efficiently manipulate multicast streams in general, and MPEG-2 Transport Streams (ISO/IEC 13818-1) in particular.
The multicat suite of applications is very lightweight and designed to operate in tight environments. Memory and CPU usages are kept to a minimum, and they feature only one thread of execution.
The package contain fives programs: multicat, ingests, offsets, aggregartp and desaggregartp.
There are three methods to install multicat on Kali Linux. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install multicat Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get updateAfter updating apt database, We can install multicat using apt-get by running the following command:
sudo apt-get -y install multicatInstall multicat Using apt
Update apt database with apt using the following command.
sudo apt updateAfter updating apt database, We can install multicat using apt by running the following command:
sudo apt -y install multicatInstall multicat Using aptitude
If you want to follow this method, you might need to install aptitude on Kali Linux first since aptitude is usually not installed by default on Kali Linux. Update apt database with aptitude using the following command.
sudo aptitude updateAfter updating apt database, We can install multicat using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install multicatHow To Uninstall multicat on Kali Linux
To uninstall only the multicat package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove multicatUninstall multicat And Its Dependencies
To uninstall multicat and its dependencies that are no longer needed by Kali Linux, we can use the command below:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove multicatRemove multicat Configurations and Data
To remove multicat configuration and data from Kali Linux we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y purge multicatRemove multicat configuration, data, and all of its dependencies
We can use the following command to remove multicat configurations, data and all of its dependencies, we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get -y autoremove --purge multicatDependencies
