In this tutorial we learn how to install muffin on CentOS 7.
What is muffin
Muffin is a window and compositing manager that displays and manages your desktop via OpenGL. Muffin combines a sophisticated display engine using the Clutter toolkit with solid window-management logic inherited from the Metacity window manager. Muffin is very extensible via plugins, which are used both to add fancy visual effects and to rework the window management behaviors to meet the needs of the environment.
We can use yum or dnf to install muffin on CentOS 7. In this tutorial we discuss both methods but you only need to choose one of method to install muffin.
Install muffin on CentOS 7 Using yum
Update yum database with yum using the following command.
sudo yum makecache
After updating yum database, We can install muffin using yum by running the following command:
sudo yum -y install muffin
Install muffin on CentOS 7 Using dnf
If you don’t have dnf installed you can install DNF on CentOS 7 first.
Update yum database with dnf using the following command.
sudo dnf makecache
After updating yum database, We can install muffin using dnf by running the following command:
sudo dnf -y install muffin
How To Uninstall muffin on CentOS 7
To uninstall only the muffin package we can use the following command:
sudo dnf remove muffin
