How To Install mtr-tiny on Debian 12
Introduction
In this tutorial we learn how to install mtr-tiny on Debian 12.
What is mtr-tiny
mtr-tiny is:
mtr combines the functionality of the ’traceroute’ and ‘ping’ programs in a single network diagnostic tool.
As mtr starts, it investigates the network connection between the host mtr runs on and a user-specified destination host. After it determines the address of each network hop between the machines, it sends a sequence of ICMP ECHO requests to each one to determine the quality of the link to each machine. As it does this, it prints running statistics about each machine.
mtr-tiny is compiled without support for X and conserves disk space.
There are three methods to install mtr-tiny on Debian 12. We can use apt-get, apt and aptitude. In the following sections we will describe each method. You can choose one of them.
Install mtr-tiny Using apt-get
Update apt database with apt-get using the following command.
sudo apt-get update
After updating apt database, We can install mtr-tiny using apt-get by running the following command:

After updating apt database, We can install mtr-tiny using aptitude by running the following command:
sudo aptitude -y install mtr-tiny
How To Uninstall mtr-tiny on Debian 12
To uninstall only the mtr-tiny package we can use the following command:
sudo apt-get remove mtr-tiny
